Project Scope

An existing IT customer, Techneat Engineering approached Rade to review, redesign and build a new content managed corporate website for the business.

With a diverse mix of products and services across multiple sectors, Techneat Engineering already had four websites. The brief required a review of the existing web presence to ascertain whether some level of consolidation and simplification would be beneficial without affecting Google rankings.

The outcome of the review would then be used to determine the design of a new corporate website that would best promote the wide and varied mix of activities undertaken by the business.

Solution

We conducted a full review of the existing web presence and following a detailed discussion with the customer, it was agreed that the Techneat Engineering website and a separate site dedicated to rotomoulding should be combined to form one larger site that incorporated all the engineering services under one roof.

A new site map was created setting out the consolidated engineering section as well as a clear hierarchy for the agriculture and ground care product ranges. Wireframes and a prototype site were created. This allowed different page layouts to be trialled and optimised to suit different audiences.

We agreed to retain the exiting branding with some subtle updates to the logo to reflect the new main website.

The resultant site offers a much-improved customer experience and provides far easier client management. A clear and simple design, the site manages to bring together the wide range of activities and products and cements the company’s ethos as an engineering specialist first and foremost.

The site was built using the Umbraco content management system, bringing with it an intuitive administration system and industry-leading features.

Based in Cambridgeshire to company has grown steadily over the years and now covers 2 physical sites. The company offers top-class design and manufacturing capabilities including a fabrication workshop and rotomoulding.

We initially sat down with Charles face to face and layed out what we were after – A deadline was set of Cereals 2023 –– first of all a clear site map was drawn up and agreed and then weekly zoom meetings with Steve and Charles got the job done. The added bonus is that we were trained in the development software so we can maintain and update the site ourselves – but also know we can call on the experts if/ when needed!
